After studying
at the Academy in Amsterdam, Ans Hey studied sculpture at St. Martin's School
of Art in London. She was a tutor at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam for
more than 20 years.
Since 1970 she has exhibited in Paris (Gallery Nane Stern), London (Contemporary
rts Society), Jakarta, Italy, Belgium, Chicago (Sara Lee Collection), Stockholm
and Finland. She has taken part in 'The European Fine Art Fair' in Maastricht,
the KunstRAI in Amsterdam and the PAN Kunst en Antiekbeurs also in Amsterdam
with, among otherthings, a performance of 'Tables d'Amour' in collaboration
with Rudi van Dantzig.
She has exhibited in several Dutch museums: Amsterdam (Stedelijk Museum,
Jewish Historical Museum and Historical Museum), Arnhem (Gemeente Museum),
Laren (Singer Museum), Schiedam (Stedelijk Museum), and 's-Hertogenbosch
(Noord- Brabants Museum).
Since 1993 she also has organized several multidisciplinary projects. The
projects 'Le Marquis de Sade et les pierres de Lacoste' (1993), 'Tables
d'Amour' (1995) and 'Le Vent' (1997), with a choreography by Rudi van Dantzig
and Toer van Schayk, were received with great enthusiasm both by press and
public. In 1998 she was nominated for the 'Prix Benois de la Danse' in Moscow
for her collaboration as a sculptress with choreographers and dancers from
Het Nationale Ballet for the performance 'Le Vent'.
In recent years exhibitions of her work were in 1996 in Turin (Studio Franca
Recalcati), in 1997 and 1998 in London (Francis Kyle Gallery),in 1999 in
Amsterdam (Gallery Mia Joosten) and in 2002 exhibition in de Zaaier, Amsterdam.
In 2000 a monumental sculpture of hers has been placed in Pedriano near
Parma.
Her latest project 'Travelling Memory' in collaboration with the famous
Hungarian composer György Kurtág and the Orlando Ensemble started
in May 2000.
