The famous Hungarian composer, György Kurtág, has written a
piece of music especially for Travelling Memory. It is a 55 minute long
series of linked short pieces for the violin, viola and violoncello. In
his composition, the use of unadorned sounds echoes the simplicity of the
sculptures. Both, however, retain their own private world.
The music is contemporary yet linked to the classical tradition. Rich in
nuances both emotionally and in its chamber music aspects, it makes great
demands on the musicians.
